Pakistan-India should promote gems and jewellery trade

   
   
   
   
   
   
   
         

A 13-member delegation of Gold Art Promotion Council-Pakistan, headed by its President, Muhammad Ahmad, visited New Delhi and Jaipur on May 11 to 19, a study tour of gems and jewellery units. The aim of the visit was to enhance bilateral relations between the gold sectors of the two countries. Now when the atmosphere is cordial and both the countries associations are trying to develop and promote trade relations, the GAPC-Pakistan constituted the delegation. The idea is to develop harmony between the two sides and ready to work together in the field of gems and jewellery sector.

Tour to Jewellers Association, Jaipur, offices

Another meeting was held with Executive Secretary and Honorary Secretary of Jewellers Association, Jaipur, Naresh Jain and Rajesh Dharmani, respectively. Naresh Jain gave briefing to the GAPC-Pakistan about the Jewellers Association Show-2011. He invited the GAPC-Pakistan to participate in the JAS-11 event in July this year. The GAPC-Pakistan President, Muhammad Ahmad also gave briefing about the local and international activities of the Council. On this occasion, both sides expressed the desire to remove hurdles in the trade relations between the two countries and termed them as unnecessary. Both the associations showed their desire to develop association to association level ties. At the end of the visit to Jaipur, the GAPC-Pakistan went to the sight-seeing visit to Taj Mahal, Agra.

Visit to Jaipur Jewellery Show offices

In this connection, the delegation first visited the offices of Jaipur Jewellery Show at Rajasthan Chamber Bhawan, Jaipur, and called on its Executive Secretary George Punnose. The delegation was warmly received and handed over the publicity material and show catalogue of Jaipur Jewellery Show-2010, to the members of the delegation. George Punnose expressed regret over non-participation of GAPC-Pakistan?s delegation in the Jaipur Jewellery Show. He termed the regular visit of GAPC-Pakistan to JJS as its commitment for the promotion of ties between the two organisations. Punnose asked the GAPC-Pakistan to make prior arrangements for the participation of its members in the JJS-2011 in December this year. He appreciated the working of the GAPC-Pakistan and hoped that the relations between the two countries will grow.

Meeting with Journal of Gems & Jewellery Editor and Publisher

Later the GAPC-Pakistan delegation also had the honour of meeting the Editor and Publisher of the Journal of Gems and Jewellery, Alok Kala, his son and Business and Marketing head, Gunjan Jain. Speaking on the occasion, Alok Kala showed his concern over the blockade of trade relations between the two countries in the filed of gems and jewellery sector. Alok asked the GAPC-Pakistan members to make more efforts for the promotion of trade in the gems and jewellery sector. He particularly appreciated the high standard of Jewellery Review and hailed the working of the editorial team of the magazine. On this occasion the latest issues of the Journal of Gems and Jewellery and Jewellery Review were exchanged.
